Ostrava, 29 April 2026 – The business breakfast “How Can Companies Develop the Place Where They Operate?”, organised by the Regional Chamber of Commerce of the Moravian-Silesian Region in cooperation with MSID – the Regional Development Agency and the LIFE COALA project, included a workshop co-organised by the ENABLS team of BIOEAST HUB Czech Republic. The workshop focused on integrating Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) into educational programmes and teaching.
The workshop addressed ways to effectively incorporate topics such as water management, green infrastructure, circular principles, landscape management and climate change adaptation into education at different levels – from schools to cooperation with companies and other regional stakeholders. The discussion was based on practical experience shared by participants from the education sector, public administration, business and non-profit organisations.
Participants agreed that a key factor is linking education to real projects, local challenges and business practice. Companies can contribute through concrete assignments, data, site visits or cooperation on innovative solutions. At the same time, the need for more systematic support for teachers, stronger methodological guidance and better coordination among stakeholders was highlighted.
The ENABLS project workshop confirmed that education is a crucial pillar of the sustainable transformation of the region and that nature-based solutions represent not only an environmental topic, but also an economic and regional development opportunity. Strengthening cooperation between companies, schools, municipalities and research institutions thus creates a strong foundation for the long-term development of the Moravian-Silesian Region as a place open to innovation, collaboration and a high quality of life.
