The 8th International Summer School on Circular Bioeconomy and Sustainable Development (ISSCBSD) returns this year, marking its eighth consecutive edition and reinforcing its growing role as a hub for bioeconomy education and collaboration across Europe.


Taking place from June 26–28, 2026 at the Perrotis College of the American Farm School in Thessaloniki, the Summer School continues to bridge academia, policy, and innovation.

A contribution to this discussion will come from George Sakellaris, speaking on behalf of the BIOEAST Thematic Working Group on Education and the BIOEAST UniNet. His talk, titled “Universities as Regional Engines of Bioeconomy Transformation: Aligning Education with the EU Bioeconomy Strategy,” is expected to underline the strategic role of universities in equipping future professionals and fostering innovation ecosystems across Central and Eastern Europe.
 
Joining forces with the  EU Bioeconomy Youth Ambassadors
The Summer School this year brings together EU Bioeconomy Youth Ambassadors, creating a dynamic platform where education meets practice and policy. This year’s edition emphasizes turning vision into action, particularly through interdisciplinary learning and collaboration.

Participants are encouraged to register early, as the deadline for payment has been extended to 15 May 2026. The registration fee of €150 covers participation, coffee breaks, light lunches, and social events.

With its eighth consecutive year, the ISSCBSD continues to build momentum as a flagship educational initiative in the European bioeconomy landscape, nurturing the next generation of scientists, innovators, and policy leaders.
