Call for abstracts of posters at ESNI-NERM 2026

The Biorefine Cluster Europe and the European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform invite authors to submit an abstract to present their scientific poster at the upcoming ESNI-NERM 2026 Conference in Brussels, titled  "The Flagship Event on Nutrient Recycling". The topic should deal with nutrient recovery and recycling and can focus on technologies, agronomy, sustainability and/or policy.

You can download the ‘abstract submission template’ from the event page to submit your abstract. Accepted abstracts will also be published in the official ESNI-NERM Book of Abstracts. Deadline for the submission is 30 January 2026.

SEA2LAND shares key results as the project concludes

The SEA2LAND project concluded in June 2025 and has now released a series of videos showcasing its main results, including quality and safety assessments of final products, stakeholder engagement activities, business plans and more. All videos are available on their YouTube channel.

The project also delivered two important tools to support nutrient recycling and sustainable fertilisation strategies:
  • MAP VISOR is an online tool that helps advisory services identify areas most in need of fertilisation and determine nutrient requirements. It also supports fertiliser producers in targeting key regions and policymakers in designing area-specific measures.
  • DSS Platform is a decision-support system that guides users in selecting the most suitable fertiliser for a given crop, context and location.

BBioNets’ cross-fertilisation meetings are back!

BBioNets has relaunched its Cross-Fertilisation Meetings, bringing together its Forest and Agriculture Networks (FANs) to exchange knowledge across regions. Although each FAN works within its own local conditions, the project has identified strong common ground in areas such as biomass availability, processing challenges, and the adoption of Bio-Based Technologies (BBTs).

This new round of meetings explores shared priorities — including cost-efficient biomass use, viable value-chain models, barriers to BBT uptake, and lessons learned from past initiatives. By comparing approaches and solutions, FANs can strengthen their local work while contributing to a more coordinated and impactful European bioeconomy.

Have Your Say on recycled-derived fertilisers!

The ReNu2Cycle project is inviting farmers, advisors, suppliers, manufacturers, and anyone with experience using (or choosing not to use) recycled fertilisers to take part in a short survey which is available in 4 languages. This will help the project partners understand how recycled fertilisers are used across Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands — and your insights are essential!

Time to complete: just 5–15 minutes. Who can participate?
  • Current users of recycled fertilisers
  • Past users of recycled fertilisers
  • People who have never used of recycled fertilisers
  • Suppliers (resource owners)
  • Manufacturers like AD plant operators, compost facilities etc.

FOLOU launches its 2nd free online course: Measuring Food Loss

The partners of the FOLOU project have launched their second free online course, “Measuring Food Loss”. Developed by University of Reading and hosted on Ubiqua (UVic-UCC), this course builds on the introductory course "Understanding Food Loss".

In this course, you’ll learn why measuring food loss is essential, how to apply the FOLOU food loss definition, and how to measure food loss in agriculture, aquaculture, and fisheries. You will also discover how food loss data can be aggregated at local, regional, and national levels, and how to use the FOLOU reporting system and registry. The course is suitable for anyone with an interest in food loss, including farmers, advisors, researchers, public administrators, and policymakers.

Key Details:
• Self-paced and available anytime
• 100% online
• Free digital badge upon completion
• EIT Food accreditation
